From Novant Health: August is National Immunization Awareness Month

Vaccines help the immune system develop resistance to dangerous diseases, such as diphtheria, tetanus, chickenpox, polio, measles, pneumonia and rotavirus diarrhea.  Immunizations are important for people of all ages, but especially important now for children who are going back to school this fall.  In order to stay enrolled in school, children must be up-to-date on the immunizations their school requires.

Yesterday, Gov. Roy Cooper announced an extended, but not waived, proof of immunization and health assessment deadline of October 31.
