Fight the Good Fight is dedicated to serving those in our community affected by brain tumors. Our Mission is to raise awareness of brain tumors in our community by hosting charity events, such as our annual 7K. We are committed to maximizing financial relief for brain tumor patients with grant opportunities. Our long-term goal is to start monthly support groups for brain tumor patients and their caregivers. This support group will provide resources and tools to help their fight against brain tumors. It will also give them an opportunity to connect with other brain tumor patients and caregivers in a family friendly environment.

Fight the Good Fight was formed to promote the awareness of brain tumors and in memory of Michel Garcia, who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade IV Cancer shortly after moving with his family to Huntersville. Despite the prognosis, Michel was known for his positive attitude and encouraging smiles, and his mantra that "Life is what pushes me." Since that time, other area residents have been diagnosed with similar brain tumors, and the memoriams for Laura Welch and  Scott Treon can be found here. The annual 7K race raises money and awareness for those affected by brain tumors.

  • Brain tumors do not discriminate. Primary brain tumors - those that begin in the brain and tend to stay in the brain - occur in people of all ages, but they are statistically more frequent in children and older adults.
  • Glioblastoma Multiforme is the most common malignant brain tumor. These tumors are usually particularly aggressive and attack the surrounding brain tissue. It is a rare form of cancer affecting 2-3 out of every 100,000 people per year.

In order to meet our mission and provide services in our community, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses for support. Together with our community, sponsors, and volunteers we ask you to make a pledge today to help us keep the MOMENTUM going. Join us in helping others fight the good fight together against brain tumors.
